Why Are the Certification Names Changing?
Salesforce is moving all certifications to Trailhead Academy, and at the same time, they want all the certification names to follow the same style. This helps everyone understand them better and keeps things consistent.
You don’t have to take any tests again just because the name changes. Your current certifications will still be valid.
What Certifications Are Changing?
Here’s a quick look at the changes:
- Administrator Certifications: Some will add “Platform” to the name. For example, “Salesforce Certified Administrator” becomes “Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator.”
- Architect Certifications: Some names get “Platform” added, like “Data Architect” changes to “Platform Data Architect.”
- Consultant Certifications: A few titles change to better describe the role, such as “Catalyst Specialist” becomes “MuleSoft Catalyst Consultant.”
- Developer Certifications: Some names add words like “Cloud” or “Platform” to be clearer, for example, “B2C Commerce Developer” becomes “B2C Commerce Cloud Developer.”
- Other Certifications: Most Accredited Professional and Business Analyst certifications will stay the same.
Salesforce will change the names of 35 certifications. Here is the complete list.

Many certifications keep their names. Accredited Professional and Business Analyst certifications mostly stay the same, so no surprises there.
