1. About You and Your Background
My name is Khyati Mehta, and I reside in Kolkata, India. However, I was born and raised in Odisha.I later moved to Kolkata for my higher education, and it has been my home ever since. I am a tech enthusiast with a passion for innovation.
I’m currently an experienced Salesforce Professional, founder of the Women In Tech Dreaming event, and also the leader of Salesforce Women In Tech Group, Kolkata. I’m also recognized as a Salesforce Marketing Champion. I’ve led multiple initiatives in India such as helping underprivileged children with Salesforce and helping special students with Salesforce.
2. Your Career Journey
In the final years of my college, I was introduced to the powerful Salesforce platform, sparking a realization that it held immense potential for a rewarding career. Motivated by this discovery, I pursued Salesforce opportunities, successfully navigating interviews to establish myself in the field.
My career journey has been a rollercoaster of challenges and triumphs. I started as a junior developer in a startup, where I honed my coding skills and learned the ropes of project management. The experience fueled my ambition, and I gradually climbed the corporate ladder, transitioning to roles that demanded leadership and strategic thinking.
My journey with Salesforce also led me to discover the Trailblazer Community. Initially, as an ordinary Trailblazer, I noticed a lack of active groups in my local community. Recognizing the desire for collaborative learning, I took the initiative to become the leader of the Salesforce Women in Tech Group in Kolkata.
Today, I take pride in having transformed the group into the most active one in East India, conducting weekly sessions. I am also the co-founder of India’s first community-led conference that is led by Women named Women In Tech Dreamin’.
Beyond leading the community group, I actively contribute as a community speaker, delivering numerous sessions in my region and maintaining a visible presence on various channels. Additionally, I host a YouTube channel named, “Krazy Cloud” where I share podcasts – a novel concept in India. These podcasts feature diverse Salesforce journeys/interesting topics offering valuable insights and learning opportunities for the community.
3. Giving Back to the Community
Giving back is something that comes naturally to me. I was inspired by the Trailblazer community’s emphasis on the value of giving back, and it resonated deeply with me. I noticed that the Trailblazer community is more active in West India compared to East India due to fewer exposure and meetings in our region.
This realization motivated me to take action. I became the group leader of the Salesforce Women In Tech Group in Kolkata, determined to organize frequent events and bridge the gap between East and West India. In addition to this, I encountered various situations related to Salesforce where I had the opportunity to help underprivileged children. I provided them with Salesforce skills, and some of them even secured jobs, earning recognition from Salesforce itself. I’m grateful for the chance to make a positive impact.
Beyond that, I extended my support to special students, recognizing the importance of giving back to the community. I actively participated in mentorship programs and community initiatives, volunteering to teach coding to underprivileged youth. Additionally, I initiated a Dreamin event/platform to provide women with fresh perspectives and help them excel in the tech industry. This commitment to giving back not only brought personal fulfillment but also strengthened the bonds within our community. It’s a practice we should all consider adopting in our own ways.
4. Advice and Learning for Others
One piece of advice I would offer to aspiring Trailblazers is to embrace continuous learning. The tech industry is dynamic, and staying relevant requires a commitment to learning and adapting. Don’t shy away from challenges; instead, view them as opportunities for growth. Additionally, seek out mentorship and be open to diverse perspectives – collaboration is often the key to innovation.
