Salesforce Superbadges Are Changing
If you’ve been around the Salesforce world for a while, you know superbadges are a big deal. They’ve always been a way to prove you can take what you’ve learned on Trailhead and actually use it in a real-world scenario. But Salesforce just gave superbadges a major makeover—and it’s going to change how we learn and show our skills.
From Long and Heavy to Quick and Practical
In the past, some superbadges felt almost like mini-certifications. They could take six hours or more and were treated like special credentials. That’s no longer the case. Now:
- All superbadge units are just called superbadges.
- Long, 6+ hour superbadges have been retired (unless they’re needed for certifications like Platform Developer II or JavaScript Developer).
- Super sets and capstones are gone. The term won’t be used anymore.
- Don’t worry—whatever you already earned still shows on your Trailblazer profile, and your points stay safe.

Basically, superbadges are now shorter and more focused. Expect them to take 1–3 hours instead of half a day.
More Flexibility for Learners
This update makes learning way more flexible. Before, you had to finish certain modules before you could even attempt a superbadge. Now, that rule is gone.
Here’s what’s new:
- No required prerequisites. Recommended learning is still listed, but you can skip ahead if you already know the stuff.
- Collaboration is allowed. You can now get help from the Trailblazer Community. Just don’t post full solutions or step-by-step guides. Think of it like real work—you can ask questions and get support, but you still need to figure things out yourself.
- Helpful resources built in. Each superbadge now links to knowledge articles you can use as references.
It feels less like school and more like solving problems on the job.
A Cleaner Experience
Salesforce is also working on making the whole process smoother:
- A new superbadge page design with clear instructions.
- Better progress tracking so you know exactly where you stand.
- Easier access for everyone.
Points and Quests Are Still Here
Don’t worry—Trailhead isn’t losing its fun side. You’ll still earn points and join quests:
- Agentforce for Service Superbadge gives +2,500 points.
- Prompt Builder Templates Superbadge gives +2,000 points.
- Ongoing Trailblazer Quests reward you with prizes (like Salesforce socks if you finish one by Sept. 30, 2025).
Gamification is here to stay—it just keeps you motivated.

Why This Matters for You
Here’s the real impact for Salesforce professionals:
- Faster to complete. You can show off new skills in just a couple of hours.
- More relevant. The old, outdated challenges are gone. The ones left match current Salesforce tech.
- Good for your resume. Even if they aren’t called credentials anymore, superbadges still show that you can do the work, not just study the theory.
- Still useful for certs. If a cert requires a superbadge, that hasn’t changed.
- Closer to real work. You’ll now learn the way you work in real life—by collaborating and problem-solving.
Final Thoughts
This is less about removing the “super” from superbadges and more about making them easier to learn from and quicker to complete. If you’ve never done one before, now’s the perfect time to try. If you’ve already earned a bunch, you’ll find the new ones faster, more practical, and just as valuable.
At the end of the day, superbadges are still one of the best ways to prove you can walk the talk in Salesforce. And that’s something worth showing off.
